Default Tomorrow....Opinion's Please...

Tomorrow my 686 will be back and put together. It will probaly be Tuesday before it's complete and I'm riding it, but what should I expect? I've got the FCR's, 11:1, Stage 2 Cam, oversized valves, chromoly rod, Falicon balence and true on the crank, port/polish, valve springs, and basically everything I could get.

Do you guys think I'll be happy with the torque and hp? I'm so damn excited to finally get this thing back together. I know some of you have been through the wait, and these past few day's have been the worst. LOL. I'm so pumped about getting this thing. Do you guys think I will be happy with the build?

I think you will be very happy! I can't wait to hear a ride report from you!

Also, I finally ordered my JTM so I will be testing that when it gets here. I would rather be testing that 686 though!

You'll be happy once the FCR's are dialed in. There will still be someone faster though, eventualy.

I was at Dumont this weekend. Not the largest crowd I've ever seen. There was some people that had pulled their trailer in to the hill. They had a couple YFZ's and a couple CRF's. I was for the most part having my way with what was there that day on the hill, except for my brother. (no, I don't have what I'd call a fast quad) anyway, I'd raced everything I could find, one of the 450R's were lined up with others, I pulled up to race. The guy on the 450R nodded his head and said somthing, I couldn't hear him. He came over and said "I'll race you, just let me go get a different quad" I said ok. His crew and himself must have been watching me cause he came out of his trailer with a Sparks Raptor. Needless to say I was handed my ***. LOL

Enjoy your new Craycraft Raptor. I hope you didn't get the JE piston.

Nope. I got a 11:1 Ross Piston. There is already faster around here, but I will be faster on the trail's considering they can only drag their quads.

I'm hoping this thing turns out as fast as I am expecting, and I will have a full ride report for you guys Tuesday evening unless something holds up progress and it is Wenesday or something when I finally get to climb aboard. I'm definetly expecting everything to be done Tuesday morning. Then I just have to dial in the carb's and do the break in. I'm definetly excited with the potential this quad should have. I will definetly let everyone know, and the ride report will include a section about the JTM Extension.

What kind of RWHP does a Raptor get from that list of mods? How much did it cost you total? Just curious.

I'm not real sure, maybe sixsixt or raptor03/onebadraptor or someone with a lot of 686 experience could back this up...but with the right tuning, I think it would range from 55-65hp. I'm hoping with a lot of tuning I can get 60+ hp.

As for the cost....the 686 starts around $1600, and when you add a extension, and the crank/rod work it goes up to around $2500. Give or take a few dollars here and there.

60RWHP ... hmm.... thats pumping good numbers. No replacement for displacement I guess. a 686 is about 50% more displacement than I have LOL.

Let me figure a power/weight ratio..... Raptor wet ... 420? .142 HP/pound

My estimate when current project is done..... .139

If I can figure out a way for a few more... .147 ... ahh... maybe if I can get another couple to the ground I can hang.

I'll leave the drag racing to the big boys I guess

Seeya on the MX track or the XC races

Is it worth putting $2500 into a Raptor anymore rather than just picking up a YFZ?

Thomez, that is why im picking up a YFZ. It will have, Pipe, filter, Jet kit, and cam mod. I can beat a series of bikes out there, and also can rip it up on the track, and cruise around the dunes at the same time. A great, fast all around bike.

Ken, I cant wait till the Raptor together. Part of that build was cause of me, I saw potential in his Raptor, if it wasnt for me, you would be riding a stock YFZ Not a full signature craycraft 686!! Best of luck with it, and in May, you and Ridley are gonna have some fun, im sure you will like his 450, and you will be picking one up for the track!! Ha.... Im only teasing you. Good luck man, I hope its a runner!!

As soon as I get the chance to ride and race a couple YFZ's I'll let you know if it was worth it. If I pick up 1-3 lenghts over just the pipe then I know it will be worth it because I lost by 1/2 a lenght to a cam mod, piped, filter, YFZ. So just watch for my full ride report, and you will know if it was worth it.
