Your turning becomes slightly effected, but they are helpful if you are increasing power.

If you can avoid it, stay away from the +1 forward a-arms, unless you are also extending your swingarm. Most people think that if you stick the front tires out front another inch it will help keep the front end down because the weight will be shifted forward. In fact, the opposite is true. You can take 4 scale and put one under each wheel with the stock (+0 forward) a-arms and take a reading. Lets say you got 100 pounds on each scale (just a made up number for this example). Now put on +1 forward a-arms and try again. You will get something like 96 pounds on each front tire and 104 pounds on each rear tire. It actually makes the front end LIGHTER. It shifts the center balance point of the quad backwards. The most noticable effect from not having as much weight on the front tires is more steering push in corners. You try to turn the corner, but the quad feels like it wants to keep going straight. It is even worse when you are trying to accelerate and turn at the same time. That makes the front even LIGHTER, thus giving the front tires less bite and poorer steering ability.

Now, if you get the +2/+1 a-arms, and a +1 swingarm, then you are essentially back to the stock weight bias and steering will not be affected dramatically.

Optimum settings for general trail riding to MX racing would be +1/+0 or +2/+0 a-arms and +1.5 to +2 swingarm.

Once you get over +2 on the swingarm then you can start thinking about adding that inch on the front to help even out the weight bias again. Good luck and PM me with any more questions.

By the way, this is my opinion and knowledge from trying these combinations. This is what all I have tried as far as forward or stock a-arms and different lengths of swingarms. I have tried stock +0(Forward)/stock +0(SwingArm), +1F/+0SA, +1F/+3SA, +1F/+2.5SA, and +0F/+2.5SA. If you can't decipher my abbreviations just PM me and I will write it out for you.

I missread the post, i thought you were talking about swing arm, sorry. In regaurds to the question about +1 or +2 a-arms i have heard they do nothing but good for the "tipsy" raptor. It may be a little tighter in the trails, but will more than likely handle better and be less "tippy". You should get a +1 or +2 axle as well if you are getting the arms.

extended a-arms are good on all quads, not just 250r's.
If you like to keep the front end down, a forward extension is not a good idea unless you are going with a + swingarm

+2+1's are used on Banshees alot with a -2 swing arm. That moves the CG (center of gravity) and allows for a little better handeling on the MX track.
