They are great machines! I never had a problem with mine...
The only down side to a 04 is they don't have the fox shock in the back..
You will be very happy with the scrambler, even more if you start moding it...

I'll be buying one this winter so we have two dedicated mud-capable trail machines. The Predator will go just about anywhere, but I want one that will go ANYWHERE.

I've had mine for almost 2 months and I love it!! If you plan on financing it I would get every thing you want at the begining(rear rack, rear axle guard, ect..) I didn't and ended up wishing I did as it will only raise your payment a few dollars a month, but Now I can't afford to drop 400 for all the upgrades I want.
As for the scrambler itself, I have taken it through huge mud pits and found that even in 2 wheel drive it wont hesitate to go through it. I would highly recomend it to anyone who wants 4 wheel drive and a sport quad. Its one of a kind. I did about 4 months of research before I bought mine and it payed off as I was going to buy a wolverine, which is a nice quad too as my friend has one and we swap some times, but its no scrammbler.

I have had my 2004 for about 6 months. I thought the rear shock would be a problem because on the 2004 there not the fos with remote resivor, and the rear spring is a single piece instead of a 2 piece spring. But after riding my 2000 the my new 2004 i've decided i like the rear shock better on the 2004. I only wish the rear spring had a little more spring rate as i bottom out the 2004 more than the 2000 but the ride is better on the 2004. I weight in at 240 pounds, so a lighter rider wouldn't have as much problem. Also for what ever reason Polaris claims the 2004 wieghts 40 pounds more and i can't figure out why yet. I like the key start alot better than the earlier Polaris's and the choke is better on the 2004. The handle bars are safer without the cross bar and the front brake lock is better than the 2000. The newer scrambler's have a different PVT cover with a drain plug. Over all I think the 2004 is better quad than the earlier years, although I thought my 2000 was an excellent machine. Hope this helps.
PS. They still havn't fixed the rear brake pedal problem, mine stopped working after the first ride.

I have the scrambler and the wolverine, I probably would have bought another wolverine (due to simplicity) if they had one in stock, however I am pleased with the scrambler, its also nice since my wife has never roade a quad and all she ahs to do is put it in gear and go and it has more power and rides very well in comparison to the wolverine
