Default z400 question?

some people oil it after there riding and some people oil it when they put it away if its wet or muddy. it also depends on how often u ride, i only oil my chain after a long day of riding. but if i only ride alittle i oil it at the end of the month.

i never herd of using kerosene though

Default z400 question?

I have heard of kerosene to clean before. I am uncertain though if your supposed to use it on an o-ring chain. As for oiling the chain I oil it after every ride. The key more than anything is to get the lube in between the plates and the pins. Covering the rest of the chain is really just for corrosion protection. Congrats on the new ride!! Default z400 question?

I know one thing that factory white grease that comes on the chain when new is badass.I have only oiled my chain 2 times since I have had my kfx and it really didnt need it then.I spray a little WD-40 on the chain after I wash it though.I use a wire brush to clean the chain and sprockets and it works great, been doing that for years on my dirt bikes and the wire brush has never ever hurt the chain.Just dont bare down real hard and kill it.Like brushing your teeth.

It's an o-ring chain. Wash off with a regular hose, simple green or simular if real dirty. Spay it with "Chain Wax" or simular o-ring chain lube after it dries.
Kerosene is non o-ring cheap chains.

Default z400 question?

I oil my chain after everytime I go for a good day of running. I just spray if off with the garden hose and make sure I get all the mud and crap off of it. After I'm done cleaning it, I usually take it for a little rip around the yard to heat the chain up alittle. I have been told that the grease works better if your chain is hot when you put it on. Don't know if this is true, but what the hell, gives me an excuse to do a few wheelies in front of the house. As far as using kerosene to clean the chain, I have been told it will ruin your o-rings. If you spray the chain off really good after each ride and use a wire brush(gently) I don't think you will have any need to use kerosene.

Default z400 question?

i just bought a z 25 days ago and am treating it right, not like my dirt bikes. i do all the proper maintenence. i put bar and chain oil on my chain. its what u use for chainsaws. i ride fairly hard most of the time and do it before every ride, work it in good and after my ride i wash it out good with a garden hose and spray some cheap lubricant on it. only needed to adjust once, didnt really need to adjust it then either-just being ****
