Some More Dyna Results - Need Jetting or About Right?
#1
I have a stock P650 w/black spring, P700 belt and 25" mudrunners, jetted for high altitude. I ran tests today, but was on a city street and only did 3 reps each way with stock and new cdi's. Cop kept cruising around, but left me alone. (Maybe he was just interested) Also, I was by myself, so the times aren't exact, but are significant numbers. Never came close to a wheelie stock, but about a 1" wheelie with the new dyna cdi.
Stock CDI over 300' run:
44.5 mph avg; 8.15 sec avg
Dyna CDI over 300' run:
45.5 mph avg; 7.85 sec avg
Is this about what I should expect? Is it significant?

Those times are a bit on the slow side compared to my 300' runs on asphalt...so I'm going to guess that you made those timed runs on a dirt or sand surface. Also, you might have been in 2wd. If so, I suggest that you re-do the timed runs on either a paved surface (not recommended if you want your tires to last!) OR you might want to run it on a non-paved surface using 4wd to reduce wheelspin. Once you eliminate wheelspin, you will probably find that the new Dyna cdi makes a bigger performance gain than the times shown above. At least, that was my experience.
