sounds like you have alot of problems with your DS since you bought it.
7000 rpm that's sux
sell you DS get a Raptor
I don't care if DS is faster. Raptor is alot better than DS.

Can we stick to suitable and helpful posts?? Instead of the "it sucks" / "it doesn't suck" idiocy…Thank you!
Scooby, are you sure the tach you installed is very accurate? What brand is it? That's very disappointing if it's true.

It is a $220 autometer tach that Ron Wood sells. I don't know the accuracy, but that would account for some of the descrepency if not all. However I am still suspicious that the rev limiter might kick in earlier than intended.

Scooby, it is in the sample rate of the tachometer, if you were to very slowly accelerate, almost 50-100 rpm increments, you will see around 7500 rpm, that is the most you will see with a tach. The rev limiter when it comes on breaks the spark and hence you see 7000 rpm.

If the tach is calibrated correct, the RPM's should go up to 7700 and set there with very little movement. Autometer is a good brand that I have used in cars before with no prob's. I wonder if the tach could have a bad connection, or a ground? Does the RPM's go to the same level when sitting still? Could you be jetted too rich or need to clean the air filter? How about the spark plug getting weak or weak voltage at high RPM's only? Good luck!
