winch questions
#1
Hey guys,
Got a few questions about a new 2500 warn winch. Will there be any damage to it if going through water over the winch plate/getting the winch really wet.? Also wondering, i unwound the winch cable completely and noticed that there is a bit of a kink in it(just a wierd bend in it). Can this cause any problems down the road. The winch is brand new and this was the first time unwinding it. Thanks for any input.

There was a post a few weeks ago on getting a Waren wet. Some one looked in a manual, aparently Waren says not to submerge the winch. As for the cable, I would not see a problem. If it is a slight bend it will pull straight, for the most part, when used. I would just make sure the cable spools up in nice even rows when you put it back on the reel. I am sure othere may chime in so at the least I bumped you to the top.

The winch will be ok if you submerge it in water, it is a sealed unit but you should clean it once in awhile. My cheap superwinch has been dunked and it's still working, haven't torn it down to see if there's anything inside though. If the kink isn't to bad it will be ok, but I would try to get it replaced for free if your winch is new. It will inevitably get kinked after you use it a couple of times.
