I want to get into motocross. I am joining the AMA so I can race in the local AMA district and I am wondering about age restrictions. Here in Minnesota, the state says that to ride a machine over 90cc, one must be 16 or older. I own (and bought it with my own money) a '99 400EX and I'm wondering if the local district will let me race even though I am 15. I just e-mailed some people but I would like to know if anyone else has been in my situation.

although i don't know much about the AMA rules. i do know that you have to be 16 to ride the quad in question here, along with a 250cc or higher quad.

I believe that you have to be 16 to race an AMA sanctioned event on a machine over 90cc. Until you are 18 you have to have parental consent (signature at the track sign up). You might try the ama website for more info www.ama-cycle.org
