Predator Tranny

Default Predator Tranny

I've heard some negative things about the Predator's Transmission. I heard that its heard for you foot to shift and some other stuff. True????

...he's right. But no, all that bs you hear about predators being bad, well, their not, their a great quad for what they are.

the hard shifting thing isnt a big deal... yes other shift alot easier but its still easy.
and yes this is a yamaha forum.. i bet the ole' polaris guys across the street could give you more input.

I noticed the shifting was more difficult when I didn't use the Polaris PS4 oil when I changed it. I used Polaris 0W40 instead, I'll never make that mistake again.

i heard the 03's (first year's) had some issues with there transmissions, but was cleared up for the 04 season

Yeah, even heard of one guy blowing up his tranny Raptor style... But this guy was an idiot and most likely jumping on the shifter when he missed a gear! He was so hard on that quad from the first day he bought it! I tried them out, and it wasn't as bad as the magazines made it out to be, but in a drag race, you could here it shift hard... Sounded like the chain getting thrown around and engaging hard again, really notchy, but quite positive really... I found it best to shift without the clutch entirely, just let off the gas and pop 'er in... You have to rev the crap outta them quads though, no torque when compared to the Raptor!

i tried not usin the clutch once in a drag race... it was the last drag my pred ran for about 6 weeks.
