Well whats the story on the alloy A arms why have they been discontinued ? Is my bike goung to fold up under me ?

Anyone know the story ??

Did you get the 04 Baja or X? I think the standard DS comes without the alum upper a-arms. Only the Baja and X got them for 04 anyways.

 

I just got a new ds 650 baja X and within an hour of getting it I let a friend ride it ( big mistake) he ran it into a boulder going about 25 mph and bent the front right A-arm than it rolled from hitting the boulder and it bent the handle bars and the steering column. does anyone know where I can get parts or know how much it might cost

 

My regular DS came with Aluminum A-arms. I ran two ruff hundred mile races with them and had no problems. The only reason I changed them was to get more travel and adjustability.

 

not that it will make you feel any better but my wife was running her dog and had a leash on her and hit a tree and bent her front a-arm and it is the steel type, don't think the dog does 25

I'm starting to wonder if the upper aluminum A-arms being discontinued on the 05's is just a rumor. I know it has been discussed here quite a bit, but where did the information originate from and how credible is it?

Nobody that I have heard of is breaking them under normal riding conditions so I just don't see why they would be discontinued.

 

Look at how nice everything is on the DS compared to other quads. Bombardier is a very outstanding company. I think if there was a problem with a-arms they would send new ones out before anyone got hurt. It would be a major safety issue. I did hear they were not putting aluminum on later models. No one confermed yet. I think they will just make them stronger if anything.

 

The standard 04 DS has the alum upper A-Arms. Earlier models were painted the same color as the lower arm (such is the case on my bike). No problems with mine. Have not heard about the 05 models
