Default Loosing Top End Speed 2000 Kodiak 400 See Mess !!

I have a 2000 kodiak, i can get to about 38-39 MPH and it stops pulling, can this be the V Belt ? It has no power loss out of the hole or about to 35 MPH. THe belt has never been changed.

I did get into water the other day and the front belt cooling tube was disconnected, i pulled the side V-Belt cover off belt looks fine.

Any Sugestions, Thanks in advance. E-mail me or call 1-570-735-1884 or send me your # in e-mail and i will call you hate to take it to the dealer and pay $ 45.00 HR. E-mail dalureman@adelphia.net

If you got mud in the clutches the dirt won't let the clutch "shift" properly. It probably isn't the belt because the most torque multiplication is at lower speed so that should be when it would slip unless there is something on the inside of the pulleys where the belt rides. There should be an inspection cover that you can take off. Under that are 8 rollers (if it is the same as a grizzly) with a bunch of real sticky grease. If there is any dirt sand or mud in the area this will stop the bushing from traveling properly and you will lose your top end. If there is something in the rollers clean them up and put the yamalube oil back in as it is a special grease.

Are you talking about the front of the 2 pullys ? Is that lube grease or an oil ?
