Default Z/KFX rear shock skid plate replacement

Last weekend I broke my stock skid plate that covers the rear shock linkage. Hatfield McCoy just isn't a skid plate friendly environment. I figure I'll replace the engine & swingarm skids later after I break them. Any recommendations for the budget minded? I'm trying to be cost conservative but I'd rather spend a little more than get something that won't last or doesn't bolt on correctly.

Thanks for your help!

Where's hatfield mckoy at? I was in Wayne, OH this past weekend and there were a couple people talking about how that was cancelled.

I don't know of any off-hand, but watch out for '03 covers because they will not cover your '04.

i'd recomend the pro armor, it comes with a seperate plate that covers the shock linkage and its all 1/4" thick, the stock ones are a joke. your going to pay more for the pro but its worth it, $124.00 at rocky mountain. i looked around and i think the pro is the strongest swing arm plate on the market.

go to pro armor .com to look at pics of products, also rocky mountain has free shipping in the skids, good luck

Look on ebay and you can find the Armadillo swingarm skid plates pretty reasonable. They are real heavy duty too, full 1/4" aluminum plate.

zman - I'm confused. I went to the pro armor website. I don't see a skid plate just for the shock linkage. Does the swingarm skid plate or the frame skid plate come with the skid plate for the shock linkage? On a different note - does the swingarm skid plate make a noticable difference to the ground clearance?

QuadN00b - Hatfield McCoy is a trail system in West Virginia and as far as I know they are open year round. They do have special events sometimes.. maybe that is what you heard was cancelled?

Thanks, I'm a Spokanite originally, started duning in Moses Lake in 1985. Actually on my page with the buggy that's Moses. Took the buggy to Florence Oregon in about '88, nice trip that was. Pretty much all St Anthony now, the closest ones to us. Better make a trip here, I'll give you guided tour of the dunes!

wolfee, yes the shock plate comes with the swing arm skid plate, pro should make a note of the extra plate in the description. i got the plates yesturday and havn't put them on to see if it makes a difference in ground clearence, but everthing shure is heavy duty and the shock plate looks biggeer than the stock one and raps around the linkage better than the stock crap. i also bought the frame armor which is nice becouse the bolt holes are recessed and thiers a hole for the oil drain plug! soon to buy the a-arm guards

I highly recommend the PRM .250 swingarm skid. Great product

You can get them through ATV addiction-a site sponsor

I put new a-arm guards, frame skid plate, rear shock link plate and swingarm plates on my Suzuki LTZ 400 2004. The stock protection sucks...use this website to get your parts that you need, cheapest prices for good protection that is not very heavy. Fits perfectly. Highlight this website and copy and paste it into your browser...

By the way, I bought all my plates here and under the Kawasaki Parts catalog. They are exactly the same but cost 10% less. The Kawasaki full length skid plate has the 2 drain plug holes. The one directly from Suzuki only has one drain hole plug
