400ex puffs blue smoke when it gets hot

i have an 04 400ex and it seems whe the engine gets hot and i rev it it lets puffs of blue smoke out. is this because of the 10w-40 oil should i use 15w-50 i heared that that was the problem?

Are you using a synthetic oil?

You oil weight probably has little to do with it. You're burning oil by either sucking it down the valve guides or your rings are going bye bye.

i have seen less of a problem when using mobil 1 15w-50 (red cap). just make sure bike is fully broke in before you switch to synthetic.
