Hey guys this is the ? i asked there and noone is answering so i figured that when i ask a ? here they answer it right away so here it is...
We had this atv since 1998 and the last time we had it serviced was in about 2001 so we've been running it about 150 hours without oil change..etc... so i started it up to ride it in the snow about a month ago and it was backfiring when i pressed on the throttle a little bit. I dont know what causes this problem. I thought that it might be cold and the jetting or w/e is off. But i started it up today and it still is backfiring when i revv it up above idle. The pipe and everything is all kinda rusty and dirty but i dont think that should be a problem should it? if somone is famillair with this atv can u help me please.. thanks in advance -Cruz-

You might try draining the carbs float bowl. If it has set alot it might have water in the gas. Let it runwhile the fuel petcock is on to flush it out then give it a try. By the way, you better change the oil in that thing. Setting is almost as hard on it as runing it. You also might check the air filte. You might find a critter in there.

prolly just jetting because when its colder it makes your engine run leaner.

But when it becomes warmer will the jetting specs even out?.. Okay so im going to check out the carb tomorrow n proly drain out the gas n put new gas in. Should i take that carb drain bolt out and let the whole thing drain out then put new gas in?
