I have a Zilla , getting ready to revamp the whole machine, I aslo own a DS650, for putting with the kids, has any one on a Quadzilla been whoopen the Yfz 450??? I rode one for the first time and them little bikes are FAST!!

 

I've beaten an older DS that just had a pipe and jet kit.....It really wasn't fair for him. My friends know of a guy that has a YZF 450, and they tell me to hurry up and get my 500 running again so I can embarrass the cocky punk. I haven't found any quad around here that can out accelerate me or beat me top-end, and I have lined up against quite a few quads, some even modded for MX racing. In fact, a kid on a $7,000 300EX starting crying when I was playing around and going slow in a drag, letting him think he had the best of me, until I would wheelie by him in a black blur. His family thinks they're rich for some reason, so he thought daddy had built him the fastest 4-wheeler ever. I don't even think he was old enough to have a drivers license yet, but I still didn't feel bad for his teary eyes........

 

I know when my bro gets his done nothins gonna touch it.....at least around my area.

The YFZs are an awesome quad but they still don't impress me that much.

the power that the yfz had didnt impress me at all.i would punch the throttle in every gear and the thing never cam up.mine feels like it hit so much harder.i can get myself to like 4 stroke power.the raptor is ok.im sure the DS650 is to.the only thing that really got me on the YFZ is the handling.can turn on a dime.it had elkas,and an axel tho

 

Well the guy thats building my bros Zilla engine said it will take GSX-R600 in the first 3 gears if he can hold it down!! So I'm pretty sure a heavily built YFZ won't touch it.

The 450s make decent power, but comeon,Outrun a Zilla?? Perhaps if the 450 was modded to the hilt, and the Zilla was totally wore out. The new 4-strokes may be "peppy" and "quick" , but they are by NO means fast.

 

yah, i hate how people player hate on 2 strokes, they are like wait till yur blaster is illegal and my 250ex owns cuz its a 4 stroke [my stupid friend], maybe if the yfz was bored over like 50 and modded till it wasnt even a yfz anymore it was just a big piece of aftermarket parts then it will be able to hang wit the zillas.

 

Well, not to sound cocky, but YEP!
However, the little YFZ runs way better than most thumpers I've seen... If you run into one running Alky, you might get your tail thumped...

 

My '87 LT250 runs pretty good, faster than our piped & jetted '01 Raptor, but a YFZ with the motorcycle cam, pipe, jetted and airbox lid off leaves me way back in the dust. Those things really run with just those mods.

 

My modded LT250R will take a stock YFZ on pavement, stay real close behind on dirt and would have done much better if I was not 50+lbs bigger than the guy I raced. I could see a YZF beating a Zilla through the first few gears on dirt because the Zilla would have the same traction disadvantage as my LT250 but on a hard surface or a long race I dont see it happening.
