One of our club members has a Rubicon. He told me that it uses regular unleaded fuel 87 octane, just like all of Hondas utility quads and the top speed is about 55mph. This guy weighs around 230 pounds.

Thats a LOT of oil. My Ford F-150 4x4 uses 6 quarts. My Rancher only uses 2.1 quarts. Why so much more?

That is the fluid that is used to drive the transmission.

To elaborate a little more, the reason that the Rubicon uses 6 quarts is because all functions of both the motor and transmission are performed using the same fluid. The oil gets it's lubrication from the oil, and the transmission usses the oil as a "hydraulic fluid", so to speak. Using the same fluid eliminates the risk or possibility of fluids becoming contaminated from breakage or leakage. Then again, it's a Honda, so the chances of breakage are slim anyway. :-)

Actually the quanity of oil that is used is to change oil on the Rubicon is 5.2 quarts and thats if you change the filter also. 6 Quarts is overfilling your resovoir so be extra carefull in this dept too much oil is as bad on the machine as too little. Now the correct procedure is outlined in the manual be sure not too screw in your dipstick when checking oil level also warm up machine for five minutes before checking oil on the dip stick. Then let the machine sit on level ground for a few minutes then check to see if you are between the two beveled marks on dip stick. Do not over fill past top mark !!! 6 Quarts will overfill your machine !!

How does using the same fluid for both eliminate the risk or possibility of fluids becoming contaminated??

This new quad is still not in Canada yet and I want to see it!
