My buddies keep telling me to get a 88 trx250r lenght swingarm which is shorter than the 86 trx250r swingarm. The prob is my front end is off the ground to much as it is.With a shorter swingarm wouldn't this only make it worse? They want me to get a aren's swingarm for a 88 but with the 86 style front part where it hooks to the motor and frame braket.

With a shortor swingarm, the front end will definately be in the air even more! What a shorter swingarm does is transfer more rider and machine weight to the rear of the ATV (resulting in more "hook-up"). Catch 'ya later!

My 86 has a much heavier front end than the 400EX, it is definitely harder for me to lift my front over logs and holes, so its a good mod for woods riding, but I like the heavier front end because with the wheel spin and lack of torque on a 250R I don't want my front end any lighter for climbing, which I do a lot of, so it depends whats more important, but I have never tried the 88R so I don't know how much difference it makes.

I would imagine a good welding shop could shorten yours that 1" (might have been 1/2"?) for a lot less than buying one, but the 88-89 is also a lighter swingarm.
