Default VERY UNHAPPY WITH A HPD Spring kit for pred

Well i got the HPD shock spring kit for my 04 Predator and so far I'm very unhappy with it. First off the rear spring is very short and it uses a secondary gold spring from a concentric drive(scrammy). This Driven clutch spring that they use for this shock is for something I don't understand because It just fully compresses when any weight is put on it. HPD calls it a Preload spring, what it dose I don't Know!! As for the whole rear set up,,,,IT rides worse then the stock set up ( and I out weigh the stock)The whole rear spring set SUCKS BAD!!!!!!!
Now for the triple spring front,,I'm not impressed there NO matter how I set it It road hard. The top two springs just compress and the bottom spring is too hard. If I set it so the ATv sits lower the shocks bottom out on it's bumper.

Now I know HPD said that it would sit lower and that you set the height by truning the spring nut/collar,,well if I turn it untill I no longer bottom out the shock it is to hard and the springs have too much preload so they compress out(the top two).

This is my frist big dissapointment with HPD!!! this kit is a waste of money. The stock springs are much much better of a ride hands down!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I have set up other shocks before and this is a crime.
I'll be giving the kit One more chance this week to prove it worth but I have My douts.
I'll be talking to daryl today to hear want I did wrong and to see if I got the right springs for my weight.
Also, this week I'm getting the shocks revalved for my weight ,so maybe that had something to do with it ,but I don't think so. I'll see and I'll keep you all updated.
BUT UNTILL I FIGURE IT OUT THIS IS A WARNING,THIS KIT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Have any of you tried this kit? if so what do you think and can you help me!?!?!?!?

Thank you
Matt

Matt, they are usually pretty good to the customer, so I would call them up and ask about the kit...and inquire their setups and how to make it work better.

I'm going to go talk to hpd Now.I don't think he will be able to help.My mind is made up I think-It is a waste of money. I'm not intressed in lowering the quad too much ,I got the kit because I thought it would make it a plusher ride. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN I tried eveything all weekend.I don't even think that the revalve wil help and at this point I don't even know if I'm going to have my sponsor revalve them.
THE problem I think I have is, I'm a 220 pound guy who rides like a light guy!!so all the springs and valvig for my weight is wrong.
Unless HPD come up with something I'll be going back to stock springs and a revalve for my weight.

The add for the spring kit said it was for a 180 pound rider, with custom kits available, you may have just got the wrong set up. I bet its just a mis-communication that will be corrected.

I noticed you said you weighed around 220? I know that kit was advertised for riders in the 160-180 range..... Did you try to get a different spring configuration for your weight? If you still have the spring setup for the 160-180 range you are right, It WILL ride like crap and bottom out. As others have said give HPD a call. I've always heard good things about your customer service.

Like the others suggested, give 'em a call. I'll probably be past their shop tomorrow and I'll bring it to their attention. The R&D quad of there's has the same set up, and their front yard is a mini MX track. The quad worked very nice for me there last year....maybe something was boxed up that shouldn't have been.

Don't cue the Mission Impossible them up just yet....we'll get to the bottom of this.

Thanks ken, anything you can find out will help.
To get you all straight--The kit is for my weight. I asked HPD for a custom set for my weight and the front springs have a 220# mark on them.So i know that they are the right ones(also ran it by daryl to make sure).
After talking to daryl from HPD yesterday,I still think that these srings aren't going to work good.I asked him about the height of the quad and about how far the spring nuts had to be ajusted.Well, I had them that way on the quad already and the ride was hard.Daryl said that the kit was made to work on the stock shocks (as is No change to valving).he also told me to try to take out one of the spacers form each front and to cut the crossover colar shorter, all to soften the ride a bit.aOne more thing i found out was that the top springs on the front and the back are suppose to be compressed .(i don't understand the point of that).
I don't know how these things are going to work because I'm getting the shocks Revalved and putting the Rezzies on the front.Daryl told me what to do with the valving but no matter what I still think that the quad will ride better with the stock springs.WASTE OF MONEY!
I'll find out how this all goes as soon as i get the shocks back from being revalved.

Hozed---You read it right-One of the springs on the rear is a Polaris GOLD driven spring fron a concentric drive.
(seems to me to be a bunch of bull-what does that do?)

Thanks all I will keep you all updated as the testing goes on.
