Power valve question? LT250R
#1
Should I be able to feel the power valve open somewhere throughout the throttle range when I'm riding?
I remember the old Suzuki RM 250 motocross bikes and when I was in the trottle hard it felt like the engine would come alive again. It was my buddies bike and he called it a "Power Band".
Is the "Power Valve" the SAME as the "Power Band"?
If it is, I can't feel mine come in on my 250R.
The adjuster position is straight up and down.
Any info is appreciated... Thanks in advance,
Dan

Remove it from its hole and let the spring relax. Allign the spring with the notch in the adjuster, and press it into the bore. Turn it 360 degrees counter-clockwise and tighten it up. Thats the factory setting.
I know when I adjusted mine 360 degrees clockwise it the engines power was flat. The engine did not hit hard when the valve flips. I noticed a huge difference when the problem was corrected.

the powervalve increases bottom end power it has something to do with the airflow to the exhaust i think but im not sure and the powerband is when you almost fly off and the quad does a wheelie

Having the powervalve closed is like having a pipe for low-end power. When it opens, just pretend little gnomes quickly swapped your low-end pipe for a mid/top-end pipe. Think of it as changing the exhaust port size for different RPM ranges.
And the "Power-Band" is just the RPM range in which a motor makes the most power.
And what can't you feel come in on your 250? With a pipe and reed valve, you should definately feel a "yank" when you hit the power band.
