Default Another ATC 70 question

I have a buddy that has a ATC 70 he keeps for the kids to ride. The original timing chain was stretched and rattling, so I replaced it in the course of a rebuild. Now the new t. chain is stretched beyond adjustment. The chain is #25 non roller, so he got me some bulk chain, w/ master link. What are the chances of a master link staying put in a application like that? I'm worried that it will come apart, and it wont be pretty.

Default Another ATC 70 question

I can say that from my prior experiences with OTHERS who have used bulk chains and chains that fit but aren't timing chains, that they hardly ever seem to last very long despite who installed them and what brand they were.

I say, stick with a D.I.D. timing chain made to fit that trike. It's under $20.00 and if the timing sprockets and oil pump drive sprocket are in good shape, it should be the last one.
