i had posted a topic earlier on what oil to run in mojaves as far as synthetics go. people said it had to meet JASOMA specs. what are the specs exactly. it just sais like car oil in my owners manual. for amsoil?

I use Amsoil 4-stroke 0w40. It's made for small, hard working engines and is good for all temperatures. Amsoil 4-stroke 0w40

 

kybabyn, go with the Amsoil 0-40w, great oil for cold weather starting (engine protection), and will stand up to extreme temps without breaking down.

gary I'm using redline 10w 40 per red line's instructions, but its about 8 bucks a quart.

 

Polaris 0W-40 until next change, then Amsoil 0W-40, both synthetic.

 

Hey sincityduner, Amsoil synthetic 4- stroke is only 6.50 per quart (better price by the case) and although Redline is really good product (I use their water wetter). I believe Amsoil is a superior synthetic oil. I can get it locally here for you in Vegas if you're interested so you don't have to pay shipping. Where do you ride out at Apex, Dumont or? Jaso-Ma means that the oil does not contain Molydisulfide. Moly is an additive that is put in most "SJ and "SL" motor oils. It's a lubricant with execelent lube qualities. It can make a wetclutch do weird things or slip.

Most car oils have less that 1oo ppm of Moly. I don't think that small amount will affect a wetclutch.

 

Amsoil 0W-40 is my choice also.

 

Could you AMSOIL junkies please explain why you use it when MOBIL 1 is easier to get(walmarts) and cheaper???????????? I am almost at 100 hours and I have been planning on putting the red cap mobil 1 from walmart in---any comment????

 

Amsoil's recommended drain interval is twice as long as Kawasaki's recommendation. In cars it's 12 months/25,000 miles. You save money with Amsoil AND you're using a superior product. In fact, if your engine fails and the failure is proven to be oil related, Amsoil will pay to have your engine repaired or replaced.
