V+pipes+Dalton+HPD Plain=BADASS!!

After riding a basically stock V for a year now I finally decided to mod it and see what this thing could do. I was a little apprehensive about spending money on modding my V after hearing stories of modded V's getting beaten by lesser bikes, but thought I'd give it a try.
I decided to go with the Pro Circuit duals. Sure there are other pipes out there that make better HP numbers, but ever since I first saw an advertisment in an ATV mag, I knew I had to get them.
After hearing so many good things about the Dalton kit, I went with the weights and overdrive cover.
I had an HPD plain primary spring laying around. I tried it when my V was stock and found that it only slowed me down. I thought maybe i'd give it another shot.
I removed the origional snorkle and ran a flex hose of the same diameter to the front leading through a hole I cut through the plastic under the hood. I then cut a hole in the air box and re-installed the origional snorkle just to the right of the origional location for a total of 2 snorkles.
After I installed everything, I noticed it was running VERY lean. I jetted up and jetted up and ended having to go up 14 jet sizes from where it was origionally. At 6000 feet altitude, My needles are on the 5th clip and I'm running dynojet #134 front and #138 rear.
Sunday, my cousin who rides a piped Predator went with me to a popular riding spot in Albuquerque. Before my mods, My cousins preddy would pretty much effortlessly pull away from my V and my cousin never let's me forget how his is only 500cc's and blows past my 700cc like nothing. Well, the first thing we did was line the two up at the beginning of a long 500 foot hardpack drag strip. I was always able to get him by about a legnth out of the hole, but this time, I pulled him by 5 legnths out of the hole and kept pulling away for most of the drag. I mean he didn't even have a chance!!
I started feeling really confident in my V and wanted to see how mine would do against the all- mighty Banshee. There was a guy on a 2004 banshee with toomey pipes cruzing around and I rode up to him and started asking questions about his pipes. I then asked him if he wanted to run them and he said ok. We lined them up and I knew I would probably have my *** handed to me by this banshee, but before I knew it, we were off. I pulled him by 2 bike legnths out of the hole and maintained that lead the whole way down. Man was I excited! I ended up beating everything I raced that day including piped raptors, 250r's and banshees. There was a coupal of yfs 450's there, but neither wanted to race me. There was one guy on a raptor that traded wins with me. It turns out he had alot of engine work done to it .He wouldn't tell me all he had done just that it had a racing cam in it. I could tell he was pissed to be trading wins with a 500lb shaft drive automatic.
All in all, I think the V is very formidable on the drag strip and am more happy now than ever about purchacing a mighty V force.

hey Twiner, please tell me that you are not yanking my chain man....
I have just recently had a terrible week and this is the news that may help me heal. I will give you the short version. My V is almost a year old. All I have done is Alien Duals with the recommeded rejetting and a Pink Spring. I have been consistently beaten by everything under the sun, even piped Z-400's. Last Saturday I flipped my V Force and shattered my right Clavical (collarbone) and had to have surgery to put titanium plates to hold it all togeher. Needless to say, depression started kicking in. I even considered selling the V Force and getting something smaller, ligher and faster.
But deep down, I love the V Force and what I really want is to have the kinda sucess you describe. Tell me one more time that this was not a fluke and I too can beat my wifes raptor and the cocky banshees with the mods you described. I need some love from the V Force crew to keep hope alive.

I was looking through some old posts and came across this one. Sorry I never replied back man. How are the bones healing? Are you doing allright? If your still wondering if I was yanking chains by posting about how the V woke up so much as to beat banshees, then wonder no more. Since then, I have raced several piped banshees, piped rappys, piped preddys and piped yfz's. Since my mod's the only bike I have consistantly lost to was a piped yfz with 18 inch tires on the rear. When I race against piped yfz's the winner always comes down to who get's the holeshot. Now keep in mind that these races are always on flat hardpack surfaces for about 500 feet. If I was racing uphill on sand, i'm sure the outcome would be different because of the weight of the V. Well, I hope your doing better and take care man...

Homedawg what he says is true, well i dont know if exaclty what that is story is true, but my friend has a V-force with yoshi exhaust , K$n , and a cluthc kit wiht the red spring primary from epi and it dumps on alot of things. Going against the Yfz-450's though he most of the time gets beat, but thats about it. Anything else comes down to driver. He does not beat me on my Kfx-400 but i can drive that thing like a mother !@#$$#. But that V-force has HUGE drag racing potential especialy when you put a chain swing arm in. Good luck........................... As for vtwiner if i am ever passing threw NM i will sure try to stop by to give a little run down that dragstrip.
