Kodiak Shop Manual
#1
How do I obtain the shop manual for the y2Kodiak? I've heard it's about $50 bucks and seems well worth it for someone like me who would rather do my own routine maintenance instead of paying a dealer what I consider outrageous charges for routine service. Also, can I use synthetic oil in my engine without comprimising the wet clutch and starter system?

You might want to try www.helminc.com. I ordered my Honda manuals from them. I believe they have the Yamaha manuals as well. It cost me $40 +$4 shipping.

I purchased mine two months ago at a Yahama dealer ($45), it is a much better manual that the one I bought for a 92 Big Bear. This one has very clear pictures and good descriptions of repairs. Clymer.com may have one out now, you can go to their website and type in your type atv and it will let you know if available.

I've been getting jerked around from a Yamaha shop for two and half months now. And still no manual. They told me another publisher took over and Yamaha wasn't printing anymore. Someone send me an address so I can get one.

Oldbear I'm in the same boat that you are in. Its only been about a month but I got the same story. For me, on the Grizz, through the dealer is the only ticket I got and gett'n noth'n fast. If ya'll hear of any other place, please keep me in mind.

I purchased my 00 Kodiak Yahama manual from Bardwell Yahama in Brookhaven, MS. I will give them a call tomorrow and see if they have more. If the do I will post their phone number and address in case anyone wants to contact them.

Thank you Mudrabbit, sooner I get my manual sooner I can start my pet project of making the limited slip dif. full lock. And not the High Lifter way. It has to be done bacause no one else is willing to make the y2k the perfect machine. Not even Yamaha.

Yamaha is not printing there manuals anymore. They have a company called Crestec doing it for them. I have personally called Crestec and seen the run around that they give a dealership. After my last call I cannot call them anymore. They informed me that do not deal with customers direct and that the dealership has to call. I was steadily climbing up the ladder to find out more about the problem and when they planned on gett'n on the ball. I was doing good until someone asked for the dealship name and I couldn't lie. I'm not tooting my own horn because I got absolutely nowhere, but it was worth a try. If the dealers put more pressure on them they might get busy and start getting the manuals to them. This has been a bad choice for yamaha to make. Back ordered is not the words I want to hear, still waiting but not patiently.
