Hate Buying A New Quad!
#1
Bought to pick up a YFZ450<White>, man, I can't get it out of my head, I hate buying new machines cause of the simple fact that the first couple year models always seem to be the test dummies. I can't wait, I want/need this quad this year, but I can't stop thinking that next years will be better. I know this is a great quad, not saying it's bad in anyway, but stuff like a softer thumb throttle and seat may come by as well as them pushing it up to 450cc's too. Stuff like that ain't so bad cause you can convert it pretty easy and cheap, but if they change something extensive like the frame I'll be kicking myself like I did with the Raptor. I bought the '01 and should have known better like with my buddy who had bought the '95 Wolverine instead of waiting. The thing with the Raptor was that it was an expensive change to do it as preventative maintenance and fixing it before it blew, so I'm still riding on that tranny, and I've riddin' it real hard on all kinds of terrain to try to blow it up and it won't, but it's now a paranoya whenever I go out that it may blow like alot have. I know they did great on fixing this prob with the YFZ450, but it still makes me second guess my purchase. That's why I heald off already a year for buying it, and they didn't even change anything on it or the LE edition? I looked everywhere for update info, and I'm sure they did a few like upgrade the battery and all, but it's not stuff they tell you up front like they said they did with the Raptor with the gearing and rear shock, axle and what not they even stated on their website for the raptor in '02.... I just hope they don't change anything big on me if I go and pick one up in the next month.... I hate it more than anything else when they update new machines a year after you had just bought them, someone else gets to benefit from you being the test dummy and having bought the earlier models! So hard, just came back from the dealer, got him down from 9800 CAD to 9300, that was my target. He's looking for availability right now, I want a Red/White one, and he's only got a LE in the crate in the back. He's sold 7 already at retail maybe $9500 cheapest, I've got him down the lowest so far. I don't know if I should wait or not, I can't race my Raptor, it's not setup, but I really want to race and I could race this YFZ in mostly stock condition. But I'll kick myself if they do some changes if I bought this, and I'll kick myself harder if they don't! Why can't they tell you upfront what they plan on doing on next years models! I just bought an 04' yfz 450. I shopped several dealers here and asked the question. I was told yeah july/august for the 05' but also there would not be any changes mechanically. Dunno how reliable the word is from the dealers/salespeople but thats what made the decision for me.
