i have been looking in the honda section for a little bit now and was wondering how do you feel about the yfz/r battle i would like to know which one you feel is better because most people have only ridden the yfz and claim it mighty ruler of the races

I know you wouldnt say that if you really owned a 450r, if you do, then you need to learn how to ride.

Haha yama4eva, good use of sarcasm. To answer your question, they really are too close to call in a race. Like I have said, go sit on them in the showroom, kick the tires, bounce up and down on them and buy the one that feels better to you.

I owned a DS right before the 450r and i seriously can tell that the 450r has let me become a better rider, im mainly just a rec. rider btw. I just feel quicker riding it with alot less effort. To me its not a battle because im 100% happy with my decision and could care less what other people say about it. People that non stop argue about which are better and just write crap to start a flame are just insecure, feel like they have competition and are cocky. I try to stay out of threads like that the best as i can, unless my anger management problem doesnt let me..jk. I have never ridden a yfz450, but would love too so i have no right to say what "i think" is better for me.

Other than the stock gearing being a little tall for tight woods riding then it's a great bike. Plus once you pipe the R the gearing issues go away because most pipes give you extreem low in boost in torque. http://www.hmfengineering.com/hondtrx450rf.html

Also the suspension is adjustable. If you have ever ridden a stock off the showroom floor YFZ then it feels alot like the R. They both need tweaks to set them up for your style of riding.

And last but not least you get the reliability of a Honda. There have been no major defects on the R's unlike the YFZ's that have battery and cooling problems. Also a friend is having issues with 1st & 2nd gear on her 5 month old YFZ.

i dont think theres that much of a difference, and yes i have ridden both. it comes down to whos the better rider, the small difference between the 2 isn't enough to make a difference. only thing i dont like about the 450r is the rear shocks

I think each quad is better at different things. No bike will be the best in woods, mx, trails, duns, jumps, blah blah blah. . .

i have both the r and the yfz and stock for stock there pretty close who ever gets out of the hole first will win in a drag race, the performance on these bikes are so close it pretty much depends on how much skill a rider has
