There is nothing about porting a 4 stroke that will make it more unreliable since all the work is being done to the head and not the jugs and is it worth it depends on what kind of work they do and what mods you have to compliment the increased flow the head will now allow.

 

If I were you, I would just ship it to Bob Craycraft, it will be done right and faster than anyone I have dealt with.

BTW CrayCraft did the porting on my X- Raptor and did a fine job.

 

If you are looking for a good machine shop in utah, try Lindsay's machine. They have done two heads for me with excellent results.

 

Steve is cool, but they take forever.
