Today in WA - raptor question/huge air video link of me at xmas hills
#1
Well I went to XMAS Hills in Idaho for the first time. Place is pretty nice, its no Croom (inverness county?), but its cool none the less. I got some really good air, which can be seen at http://www.spokaneairsoft.com/images...lsbestjump.MPG but anyway, the real reason for my post is a huge dissapointment with the design of the Raptors Carbs... My problem was when I was hitting a small jump for practice, I went off it and the bike died. I tried restarting for a few seconds with no sucess, I looked at the engine to make sure the fuel didn't drop to off or some s**t, and guess what. The carbs came completely off the engine. I didn't notice this when I jetted it, but the flange on the carbs (the part that goes to the engine) is so small that getting that rubber boot to fit is the biggest SON in the GD world. WTF!!!! How do you guys keep that thing on there? Its so small that the ring is bigger, and when you tighten the pipe clamp down on the boot, the ***** F'er will just sqeeze its *** right off the edge of the damn carb! How do you guys do that?!! I guess it was easier for me when I had the gas tank off to rejet it, but still that flange should be waaaaaayyyyyy longer. Everntually I got a stick and used it to pry the carbs close to the engine so I could get a decent seal, but this is a s**t design and I am highly dissapointed... Any suggestions?

It's a sad design for sure. Any time the idle circuit is lean the potential is there. Check your intake boots for tears. Get some worm clamps at the local hardware store and they will tighten the seal up a lot better...don't overdo it though....you will cut the boot. Leave the clamps loose and run the carbs all of the wey in and tighten the clamps. Then you can put the reat intake boots on.

the stock boots are rubber and flimsy (01 are anyway) and the upp boots are plastic and the carbs snap in instead of sliding into the other stock boots my carbs would blow off every 15 minutes until i got them and now they havent since
