I put in new points in a 70 atc and now I can't even get it to start. So, I put the old points back in and it will start right up. What gives? Am I doing something wrong? I don't work on atc's often so I don't know much about them, any help is appreciated. thanks.

I didn't measure any gap, I just put it in like the old one. How do you measure the gap, from what to what? Yes the wire is hooked up. There's no grease or oil on the points.

You will have to look in a book or ask on here what the point gap is but......Turn the engine over until the gap is the largest ( the follower will be at the peak of the lobe) And measure.......For example if the gap is to be set at .012. Use a feeler gage .012 and loosen the holding screws for the points and rotate it until the feeler gage just barley slides between the points and then tighten it down.
