1000 mile mark on SP500
#1
I am almost at 1000 miles on the red beast, so far not a hiccup! Been in all types of terrain such as mud up to the rack, water up to the seat, some easy trail rides on rail beds, climbed a couple mountains, driven me to the local bars. Survived a 96 mile hell(which is a very nice way to put it) ride. She has ridden with Grizzlies and Foremans. (They all seemed to get along very well despite my initial concerns after posting in these forums) I think for her 1000 mile birthday I am going to treat her to some fresh oil, some grease and a really nice set of shoes, Vamps they go great with red.

wow tough question? it has been good to me that is for sure, well maybe make it easier to steer for my girlfriend who finds it a bit hard to negotiate. The grease fittings might have to go if I was sure what ever was replacing them would last.

A friend of mine just sold his 1996 SP500 with 3600 miles. No problems ever with it. The reason he sold it is because of wear on joints, shafts and wheelbearings ( some joints weren't greased for 2 years!) Needless to say if it had been maintained properly who knows how far it would have went

The SP is scary. Mine was two days old . I was on the side of a tall hill with pail sized stones under me. I tried to goose my wheeler to get it straight and then let it roll back down but instead it started rolling I could hear it coming after me but I had fallen .It rolled over the top of me. Blew out both my knees and I have a permanent1/4" deep and 4 inches long indention in My upper thigh area. Now, that was painful. I'm getting to old for those "impossible" stunts. I don't heal up very fast anymore. Gonna take it alot easier for the rest of my riding career!LOL Ride'em Hard Polcat
