Just purchased a used 250R. First 250R I owned any tips/tricks that would be good to know. Also
oil cap had white film under it, is moisture from not running or is a seal leaking or head gasket. I haven't
had it long enough to see if I'm loosing coolant. Just wanted to see if anyone had this problem before. Thanks

 

Check your water pump, sounds like you might have a seal leaking.

 

The eletrical system is weak so gap the plug at 0.020. Mix the gas at 40:1. If you ever replace the clutch get an oem one with the 89 up grade kit. When starting put the choke on and SLOWLY push down on the kick starter twice and then kick it once real fast, and 99 times out of 100 it will start first kick. WOW, there are soooo many diffrent things it could take me the whole day to write them down, So if you ever have any questions feel free to PM me.
