How do you like your sportsman
#2
Nice ATV, I had a 1995 400 Explorer that I bought new, there have been a lot of changes. I bought a new Sportsman 500 about a month ago and I am in the breakin period. It took me a while to make up my mind between the 500 and 700, but I think I made the right choice for myself. The power is more than adequate for me, and the ride is great.
My only complaint to date is the fact that there is a lot of heat coming from the exhaust pipe on my right calf and ankle. I talked with the mechanic at the dealership where I bought it and he suggested some heat reflective foil. I have it on order now and hopefully this will help the heat. Other than that I can't complain.

I have a 2002 HO and I think it is a great quad. Bought it new in July of 2002. It hasn't let me down yet. I think it is sporty for a big utility and have a alot of fun on it. I can't see where I would need more power in a big quad and acceleration is very good.

have had our 400 sportsman for years. we put it through hell and it still runs strong. my brother sunk it in a pond once so our electric start broke cause we were to lazy to fix the swamped battery. eventually i pull started the thing so many times i broke the pull cord. lol anyone replace a pull cord before? it is the biggest pain in the world. ive rebuilt many a quad in my day and that project was with out a doubt the most difficult, i was only 11 though so it would prolly have been easier now lol
