Default Sore Tired Thumb!!

I wasnt sure where to put this post, but since I have a Yamaha, I ended up here. Ive ridden mostly dirtbikes till now. This is my first quad (yfz450). Riding out at Gorman this past weekend for the first time I noticed my thumb getting really sore and tired holding on the throttle lever. Im a pretty stong fella, I work out and Im in good shape. My mind and body are saying "go, go, go faster man!!" My thumb is saying "Whaaa.... give me a break". Should I get a twist grip throttle or is there something else? Advice Please.

u can get twist throttle, but ur thumb will adapt soon, just wait a while. its like working out, each time u can lift more and more, u just gotta train ur thumb a little.

There's all kinds of different thumb throttles that claim to be easier on your thumb, If you prefer twist, go get a twist, I'm a life long thumber and the your thumb and wrists toughen up over time.

LMAO. If you think your thumb hurts now, go ride a banshee or 250R.

Just work up to it. you'll like it once your thumb gets used to it!

There are billet throttles available from Terry Cable, and HPD. Both work very smoothly, and do a nice job at reducing thumb fatigue.

cascade innovations also makes a very nice extended throttle that is easy on the thumb. I met a guy with a 450 who had it and it sure was a lot easier then stock.

My aunt put an extender on her rancher thumb throttle. She hit it a few times working around the ranch and it almost wrecked her and the atv 3 times in one day. She had it off that night.

I learned on dirt bikes too.

I put a twist throttle on my blaster after the first time I rode it.

I love the twist throttle, I would never go back!

I would try the twist throttle for awhile and if you like thumb better just switch back. your thumb will adjust after awhile.
