I already got a stock bore 11:1, stage 1 HC, light porting, and FCR 35's. I'm thinking that by next fall I will put some more into my engine. I just want a reliable all-around duner that will hold its own in some drags. I'm sure I will go with at least a 12:1 686 and stage 2 hotcam. Something bigger would be cool, but I've heard it takes a lot more $$$. Think it would be a good idea to go with an aftermaket rod and update the transmission while I'm at it? Thanks for any input.

Thats prolly what i woudl do.. Make a mildly modded 686 and work up from that

I just did that Scary. My stage II didn't have enough top end for what I want. When I get it in and run it at the dunes next weekend I'm gonna post my results.

 

Isnt the web race cam more aggressive than the hc stg2? Somewhere between that and the MC cam.

I'm in a similar position. My next one will be an 11:1 686 with web full race cam, port job, and mod my stock carbs. I'm not one to just send my machine out. Who wants to miss out on the fun of weeks of trial and error followed by an unholy desire to set fire to the atv?

 

After talking with Bob this summer at Summer Nationals I'm going to look into going to the 14:1 Ross piston, and either a Craycraft Cam or a Megacycle Cam by Fall. Right now I'm having a blast with the Stage 2 and 11:1, but I'm really interested in what the 14:1 will do with a really hi-rev cam. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
