#1
My nephew just got a 2000 polaris 90 tonight for $600.00---It is absolutely awesome--on straightaway I cannot pass him with my 360!! The 90 needs some work and we dont have a manual--anyone know were to download any info on this model for free?? Does this thing Have reverse???I also thought it might have electric start but I cant seem to find it!! what is the grey switch on the left handlebar??? and where the hell is the choke????
Any comments would be appreciated since I will be the one working on it for him.

it should have all those things you mentioned. check out www.polarisindustries.com i think is the website and try posting this in the other atv topic forums because there is a lot of posting about these quads in there i think

The gray switch is the electric start. Place the red slide switch in the center and push the gray one to either side. I could be wrong but, I believe the choke is enabled by pushing that gray switch to a certain side. No reverse. To keep it running, use a fuel stabilizer and run the bike often.
As for beating you on a straightaway, last week I followed my son on his 90 up a long, steep, sandy hill climb. In case he had problems he'd just roll back into the front of me. About half way up he gassed it and for a moment, my 500 struggled to catch him.

Grey should be lights (even if it does not have lights). Electric start should be red or yellow if it has it. It does not have reverse. A lot of those type quads came with electric choke. If it has wires going into the carb it has electric choke.

Thanx for the help guys--it definitely has wires going into the carb---and no choke **** anywhere, so I will assume electric choke (i wonder how this works if battery is dead??? I am gonna check battery tonight and see if i can figure out electric start---also learned today that this quad was made bt ETON---I am going check them out also---What I would really like to find is a site that I could download either the owners manual or a service manual from.. Does anyone know what year polaris came out with the sportsman 90?? sticker on the front of this one is labeled 2000

Here is a link to an Eton manual. Some of the stuff will help you too. You have to register with the site and it is free. Roosting the Dunes . I don't know if the electric choke does much until the unit is running, but most hate it anyways(including me).

Did you hook the battery back up? Did you get the wires crossed? Check for a bad ground from the frame to motor and frame to battery. You may have over amped and melted the chasis ground. That's all I can think of.

Hey Fishslab!!!!!!!!!!!!!--Your right on the money!!! When bike was brought home thursday, old owner had batttery on charge before selling and installed it before ny nephew brought it home---had one ride on it and wouldnt start---I checked it out that night and found battery reversed---switched wires and it seemed OK until yesterday when he got shocked by kickstarter----BLACK GROUND wire that goes to coil was completely fried and disconnected???????? I replaced and bike is running great---Resistor is still heating up though---does this mean anything???? Are they supposed to get hot??? Today I told him I would track wiring on electric starter(still not working, maybe related to the battery incident)
GOOD CALL---Thanks all you guys for your input
