I recently aquired a banshee rolling chassis real cheap, and I have had a 87 Suzuki 750 GSXR sitting in the garage for about a year that I also got real cheap and it still runs good as of yesterday. I have done a couple of swaps before but they were all at one time a 3 or 4 wheeler or dirtbike engine. The only real problem I see about this swap is hat my GSXR has a 530 size chain and the sprocket on the shee is a 520. What have you all heard about or done to solve this problem.

 

I just recently switched my DS from a 530 O-ring to a 520 non o-ring. The chain pitch is the same between the two. But the thickness of the sprockets are as follows:
530 - .350 thick
520 - .250 thick.

I simply ground the sprockets to 1/4 thick, and away we go. Be sure to take equal amounts off both sides of the counter shaft sprocket, to keep it aligned with the rear.

Thanks man. I was hopeing I could do that. I haven't dove into it yet. I am going to showfest this weekend (the biggest truck and car show in MS) and I am supposed to pick up my engineless banshee for $100 bucks. I have seen picks of it and it looks pretty good and I can't wait to get started.

 

I am told Sprocket Specialist can make pretty much any size rear sprocket you want. You are going to need to put alot larger sprocket on the rear to gear it down anyway, so have them make you a 530 sprocket. I dont know if I would trust a 520 with that much hp.

You really need to run the 530 chain give Sprocket Specialist a call they can make the for you i had the make me 5 for a quadzilla 500 that was for 530 chains because the R1 motor runs it also! Good luck you have alot of work in front of you!
