Bend my Raptor tie rod, help!
#1
Went out riding today and bent my tie rod on a rock. I have +2,+1 " a arms. I started to take the cotter pin out and unscrew the nut and then I got stuck. How do you get that tie rod out? Also how do you put it back in?
Thanks You for your input, it is greatly appreciated. I need to RIDE!!!!

You should be able to get your tie rod to screw out of the ball joints by turning it in the direction that lengthens as if you were adjusting your steering track it if you see what i mean unless its bent real bad
then you will have to pop the ball joints out, Im not sure about the raptor but most bikes U just remove the split pin remove the nut then get the hub where u can get a good solid hit at it and hit the part of the hub that the ball joint pin goes through the shock should make it jump out as it is a tapered shaft.
Somtimes trying to prize it out at the same time will help. DONT go beating up the thread part where u took the nut off as this rearly works and just mushrooms the end.
If That doesnt do in u might need to buy a ball joint spliting tool
good luck

Blue,
You have good advise. I took out my tie rods by unscrewing them with the tire off. I then found out that the part damaged is the ball joint. I tried to get the ball joint out by releasing the cotter pin and unscrewing the nut a little. Then with a couple of taps with a hammer and a 2x4 it still didn't come out. Not damaging the threads either. I think I now need a ball joint splitting tool.

I'd suggest getting the Ricky Stator yamaha tie-rod kit. It converts it to Honda style and is much stronger especially for the wider stance.
