Review of the Holeshot HD tires.
#1
Well got my Holeshot HD tires installed on my Raptor this last weekend and figured I would give a review on them.
Looks: As far as looks go I think they look awesome. I really like how aggressive they are. I have a couple pictures of them on my Raptor just click on my camera.
Sand: Out at the gravel/sand pit I ride in I got to put them to the test in sand. They clean out very well and the traction is pretty good but if they start spinning they dig you into a hole really quick but this is normal for most X pattern tires. But for roosting the top of the sand hill I found with a stock raptor they hook up too well on the sand and it didn’t have enough power to really pick up a good roost. While I had my stock tires on it I could throw a big roost over the top of the hill but with these they hook up and want to dig in and make the quad want to roll. So I think with a pipe and air box mod it would take care of this problem. In my Pictures there are a couple pictures of me trying to roost for reference.
Mud: It’s SO dry in MN I haven’t gotten to test this but from what I can tell it looks like they will mud very well. They seem like they will clean out well.
Dirt: I took it on a little fast woods riding and they were awesome. This is what I mainly got them for and they live up to there name. They hook up like crazy all my power goes right to the ground and deep ruts don’t really slow them down they just bite into the side and climb out.
Hard pack gravel: I took it out on the gravel road and messed around a little and they felt about the same as the stock for doing cookies on the gravel. These do dig deeper ruts though.
Handling: I think the quad handles better now with the wider tires but you have to be careful power sliding because they hook up really easy and will throw you around or off the machine.
Bottom line: I really like them and for everything I do. But they really sap your power on a stock machine I think with a pipe it would make the tires a lot more fun. They are a little on the soft side this I don’t like.

I did a review on them the other day. After riding them some more last weekend, I don't think they will be the ultimate desert tire. The Holeshot XC and XCT's are still the best all-around for desert. The side lugs on the H-D do help tremendously when you are in a rut. The H-D's are probably at their best on eastern trails.

ShadyRascal: I wouldn't say they are really heavy. They are a little bit heavier then the stock tires though. I'm running the 20x11-9's.
CaptBags: I'm not sure if there a mimic or not I’ve never used the Razor 2's. But from what I’ve seen from pictures the HD's look a little more aggressive.
reconranger: i enjoyed reading your review I must have missed it when you first posted it.
