I have a bunch of friends at school who own pretty vicious race quads 450r yfz 450 predator and banshees...if any one has ever dragged these quads could you please let me know how you did? especially the yfz because I have to race one soon my ds is stock the yfz has a pipe on it

If you are racing the 450 on the flats, you might get him, but up hill, you will not. 130lbs or so weight difference is alot to over come. Do some mods on that ds and youll get him.

 

Ive owned both.. you wont win, specially not stock.. your bikes make the same HP stock... his weighs 200lbs less.

 

If you have stock gearing on your DS, go up a tooth in front and down a couple in back. The DS has plenty of torque to pull a taller gear ratio and you won't bump the rev limiter so fast.

I've raced a YFZ and it all depends on who gets the hole-shot. In the long run, the stock DS will reel him in and pass him if he gets the hole-shot.

 

I have not but Ive read alot about this. just a little advice. if your quad is all stock put a end cap on re jet to 172.5-175 main, 15T sprocket, and a aftermarket CDI all for about $205 this will get you rocking and practice your starts practice, practice. races can be won and lost at the start. My DS with just a few mods runs right with the 450 bikes and piped Banshees with equal riders. (ie, when I get a 160lb guy to race mine)

 

More like 125lbs.

 

I've got a buddy with a ds that has pipe, tm45, rev box and 15t front sprocket at the drags last weekend a yfz with pipe and filter was giving him all he wanted. Came down to who got the hole shot.

 

I am going to be finding out which is quickest pretty soon. My 13 year old son has a YFZ, and right now I have a V-Force. He whoops me badly right now, but the V-Force is on ebay as we speak, and I take delivery of an '04 Viper on June 13th. More to follow ...

I have a 04 DS650 with 14:1, Web Cams, Blk Box, Lev 46 Carb, lighten the bike a bit with replace parts with Aluminum, I haven't had a YFZ come close yet one's with pipe and filter but than again I have these mods, I did race my Stck DS against a Preddy I got hammered wasn't pretty so in short do mods if you want to hang with the yfz or beat it, I did.
