Thinking about new warrior
#2
Well, since you have posted this on the Yamaha forum, I have to assume you have more or less decided on a Yamaha as opposed to another brand of bike. With that in mind, I'd say you are definitely not making a mistake, providing that you are not especially small or light in weight. The Warrior, at approx 425 lbs dry, is a little on the heavy side and this weight favors the front end. ..therefore a person of small stature might find it a bit of a handful in aggressive riding. Having said all that, The Warrior is a dependable proven machine with enough low, mid, and top end to make an enjoyable ride for you. At $4949 mslp, it is below some other makes & many aftermarket products are available if your need for speed is not satisfied.
I ride a 97 Warrior and it has been great for me , altho I'm thinking about a Raptor when the 2nd production run is available

Ummm....get the Warrior. I'm 15 and I just moved up from a Blaster about a year ago. I love my Warrior...its great. Its really not that heavy....and its not 425 lbs dry!! Its I think around the 390-400 lbs dry. Add fuel to that and you'll hit 425 tho! Hehe, if you cant afford a Raptor or even a 400EX, get the Warrior. Hey! Isnt this funny how everyone that posted on this topic is from AZ?!? I think thats cool! hehe

It's good to see a place where AZ people are exchanging ideas since we have different riding conditions than the SE. I don't mean to bash the Warrior and if your sold on Yamaha and a 4-stroke engine and don't have the big bucks, it's a good bike to trail riding around the desert and mountains. At 14, it's probably a good idea not to buy too much bike, but then again, you don't want to lay down your hard earned money and be bored in 6-months. I'd try to find a used one in good shape. That way you'll see how you like it, and if you do get bored, you'll probably be able to sell it for close to what you paid. Have fun and make sure you've got a helmet on.

Hey man, the warrior is a great bike. I wouldn't go with anything else for trail riding. My warrior weighs in at 397lbs. Thats only 10 more than a 300ex and less than a 400ex. Besides that the 400 doesn't have reverse. It's a great performing bike also. Especially with a few mods.
Stock for stock a 400 couldn't hang with me. Now that I modified it I don't how bad I outrun em. My friend just ordered pipe, jets, and K&N for his , so we'll see.
99' Warrior- Modified airbox, Jet kit, K&N filter, DG pipe, Webb Cam
Wiseco 10.25:1 piston
98' Wolverine-K&N filter, jet kit, DG silent
core muffler, Vampires around
96' Banshhee- Just starting mods-bought blown
real cheap
