'92 LT250R, Tips/Tricks/Best Mods??
#1
Yesterday I bought a cherry '92 LT250R that's completely stock except for the FMF silencer. The guy bought it new and rode it a little the first few years, then put it away in storage. When I get off work today I'm going to change the oil, coolant, and clean the filter before I ride it. The airbox seems small and crowded...is it known to be restictive? Do you LT guys put an aftermarket filter on without the cover and re-jet? What is the tube for that is above the filter, connecting to the frame and the rear of the airbox? From the test drive yesterday I think it's running a bit lean. This bike was purchased originally in West Texas and he said he took it to the shop for rejet when he moved to Ft. Worth...no telling whats in there. I live around Austin, which is a little lower elev.,so I'm going to stop by the shop on the way home and pick up a range of jets for some plug chop reads tonight. As soon as I can sneak in an order from Rocky Mountain ATV (you know, what I mean if your married), I want to get a pipe and aftermarket filter...any comments on best pipe? Are there any known tricks or free hp. mods for this bike. You know I've only ridden this thing for about a 10 minute test ride, but I managed to jump it and use the brakes...WOW what a difference from the Blaster. Oh, any recommendations on adjusting the suspension, I'm 6' 200lbs.?
Thanks,
Steve

Glad you are happy with your purchase, and welcome to the world of Suzukis! If i were you, the first mods I would get would be a new pipe/filter on my machine i have an LRD adjustable pipe (the best IMO) purchased for 299.99 plus shipping. I have a K&N Filter with an outerwear (to filter out dust where i ride) as for the suspension, that is my next BIG upgrade, i'm planning to go with works tripple rates, to be redone by TCS in a year or two. I have been running the quad with out the lid on the air box and a bunch of holes in it (i will eventually remove the air box) Im not sure what jets i have in there now. Rocky mountain ATV has VERY good service (if you didnt already know that) the brakes on the quadracer are pretty good (mine are out of order right now though) well. have fun with your new machine, they can be VERY fun. Always wear your helmet.
