Going to be picking up on of these quads in the next couple days. Looking for some pros and cons between the two. I will be mostly ridding it the woods but also will be on some tracks. I know the Honda is a little cheaper but may be built better than the yami. Looking for good reliability and good power. Any input would be great. hey noticed you live in connecticut and legal good riding there? ANds to your question i like yamaha i think the yzf is cheaper there both very close bikes i do remmeber that dirt wheels liked the yzf better soo i cant rerally help you but where do oyu ride?

 

both excellent machines, yamaha has a little more power, honda is more comfortable to ride

 

I haven't been on a 450R, but I did just get a YFZ. My first impression when I rode these last year was the odd seating position. Now that I've ridden it for a couple weeks I am dead nuts in love with it, and our Rappy and LT250 seem a little "cruiser-like" in comparison. And, after kick-starting since 1991 I have the magic button which I will NEVER EVER EVER be without again.

Are we talking about the yfz-450 and trx 450 fourwheelers??? Or the yzf450 and the crf450 dirtbikes???

In your title you got the dirtbike names.

 

from what ive READ so far, the yammy is better on the track and the honda is better in the woods...

 

All of the feedback I've seen points to the Yammy. Both are excellent bikes, however, if I had to choose, there'd be a red and white Yammy in my front yard.

 

just my personal experience. I was drag racin a honda 450 and he had pipe, filter, and jetted. Now I was on my girlfriends yfz 450 that i got her, which is piped, jetted 168, and k&n'd. Raced 8 times that day and beat him every time.....and to top it off, thats with a slipping clutch! Then, thought maybe it was just his riding...switched quads, and he smoked my a$$ so there's a little fyi.

ps. then i had a bunch of fun when i got on mine w/ another 1500 or so into it...he was pissed

 

The better of the 2 is the yamaha HANDS Down. The yamaha is faster and has more good stuff for the $$. If you want to go slow and act cool kick starting a quad save a few $$ and get the honda. If you buy a honda and plan to modd it to run with the yamaha you will be spending a bunch of money and not get there. Honda designed a second place quad after coming to the show late.
