Sounds like it's starving itself of fuel. Any chance some of that sand made it's way into the carb? A clogged pilot jet will do that.

Yagimo,

This may sound stupid, but is your gas cap vent tube pinched?

AlaskaBoy.

The gas vent tube is not pinched. Is there any recomendations on how to clean the pilot jet?

There is really only one way to clean the pilot jet out...that involves removing the carb from the quad and getting to the float bowl.

I should say that I am not familiar with the quad in question...so I'm not sure what kind of work is involved with removing the carb. It seems to me that the utility quads always seem to have a ton of plastic covers in the way of everything.

If you have access to compressed air...that is the best way to do it...make sure you can see light through the jets

Be careful with carb cleaner...it can damage rubber and gaskets

If it is idling fine then I would guess a main jet blockage as opposed to a problem with the pilot.

I had a similar problem with my warrior and it turned out that it was time to clean the carb. went and bought some spray that you just spray in the carb and fixed it right up. dont even need to take the carb apart, u just go in from the air box!
