Who sells a K&N for the YFZ? Like most yamahas, you probably need the adapter kit as well? Do you have to remove the "cone screen" on the stock set-up? Thanks

that whole piece with the screen gets replaced if you buy a ron woods or esr kit.

 

The ESR air filter kit has to run without an airbox. Ron Woods has one that you can use the airbox, But you have to use his intake. Here is an air filter kit from noss Machine that uses a K&N with the stock airbox. It elimanates the screen in the intake, But still uses the stock intake.......High Flow Airbox Flange and Huge K&N Filter

 

The K&N filter, adapter plate and pre filter are now available from yamaha as GYT-R products.

I purchased my stuff from Bob at Magnolia tractor for ~ $115

 

I just installed the Pro Design kit on mine. You have to drill out the 5 rivets that hold in the cone thingy. The holes are then used for the billet adaptor. One thing to note is make sure you use some gasket sealant (what ever kind you prefer) in addition to the oring it comes with because it may not make a perfect seal with just the oring. Installation is easy, it helps that the airbox is very simple to remove.

 

If you ride dunes, def ESR or RW remove airbox.
