Scram 400 drive belt
#2
hey wolverine,
i too am kind of wondering the same thing. i came across a sportsman 500 ho belt for dirt cheap. but didnt know if it would(or should) go on my scrambler 500 ho. so i had to pass.
i have heard that upgrading to a belt from a bigger motor or size of machine, will help in belt life/performance.
does any one know if you can swap belts for different models?
i didnt mean to jump in or change your post, but i think it is an important question.

Thats what I'm thinking, and the EFI belts have kevlar in tham so they are supposed to be stronger, I'm just not sure I can use one.

EBS equiped quads use a cogged belt. It may not be as efficient on a non-ebs quad. Most belts do have a Kevlar type cord in them. It may not be the Kevlar brand of cord, but it is just as strong. Dayco makes a few different belts that are considered better than stock. Look here Dayco belts. I use the Dayco Maxll. Part # MAX1121M2. Dennis Kirk is selling them at a decent price.

I use the same Dayco Max2 belt that Fishslab used. Man that thing grips great! Or you can get a Gates kevlar belt from Napa. Gates#At4090. It is the same belt that HPD sells for 1/2 the price

Yes. It will last a lot longer and will grip a lot better. Especially if you start pushing some hp throught that thing, like you will be doing soon The only problem with the kevlar belts is that you run more of a risk of grooving the clutch rather than smoking the belt
