Default Weight savings on Pred that I found!

Here are some ways to shave weight off the Pred.

1) put Z-400 or any other stock tires on will cut 13lbs
2) WB pipe will cut 3lbs
3) Trail Tech bar and clamps will cut 2lbs
4) IMS foot pegs and heel guards will cut 3lbs

So right there will cut 21lbs off the Pred. I could not think of any others tho, but still a good cut.

Any tire with very few tires will help. But are you really gaining much if you can't get them to hook up? It's hard to say... then there's the issue of frequent flats with 2-ply tires...

Good to know.

Actually the tires on a Z hook up very well compared to the Razr's. So for those who play in the sand and do some dragging, the Z tires work real well, and 13lbs is quite a savings.

I also was thinking of putting Billet hubs on to shave a few lbs too, but the Pred allready has aluminum hubs stock, so as far as weight, there would be no savings. Then taking the lights out will cut you another 4lbs.

Where it looks like most of the weight on the Pred comes from, is the frame. The frame tubing is quite abit larger then the Z's, YFZ or 450R's, plus not having a aluminum sub frame.

That's fine... I don't do either, I am in Canuckistan, land of pine-needles, rail trails and rocky hills. I think I'll stick with 4 and 6 ply tires... but I get your point just fine.

I use mine. Hell, I ride mine around the property doing chores like it's a utility. And I have a utility... it just isn't as much fun.

That's why you might stand a chance on having your Predator a few years. I predict there will be very few old YFZ and Rs. The Z400 isn't all that light.

GE, you would be amazed at how heavy the rear sub-frame is. Holding it, then holding Rath's chromoly unit is a real eye-opener.

Raths is like 4 pounds lighter, the sub frame that is I belevie.

Mine is torn down to just the bare frame right now going to grind some extra metal off and paint it.

The Swing Arm is heavy as hell, and the axle is pretty heavy also but there both strong units.

If you have a chance, could you weigh each. The frame, sub-frame, swing arm and axle?

okay strength vs light weight. Its your choice, when going light weight your going to lose strength. For example you can change out the 40lb rear axle to maybe a duralube that weighs probably 13lbs. The rear swingarm can be changed from its 40 to 50lbs to something else less weight. The rear tires can be cut to something less. And you have a lot less weight. Without a doubt you can get this down to 350-370 mark. But changing all this is going to sacrifice your strength. But if you have the cash to blow and constantly outride your predator, then go for it. If not sit back and watch your buddy break everything on his raptor.
