Default Raced a YFZ with my 85 R last night.

First off I would like to say that the only mod my R has is being bored .050 over and that is because it is 19 years old. The YFZ I raced had a couple of mods. He had the GYTR pipe, no air box lid with a K&N, and he said he had somthing done with the cams(retiming or somthing). I went to a yearly festival around here that is basically a big party in a pasture with live bands, crawdads, and beer. The make you sign a waiver and you can ride all you want to. The guy that puts on the festival is pretty cool and it was his son I was racing too. He kept going on about how fast his was and he let me ride it to. I have rode a 450r honda and loved it but I didn't really care for the YFZ. It's fast but I felt like I had to ride standing up the whole time just to get remotly comfortable. I am not a die hard honda fan either, I ride em all. So I went over to see if he wanted to run and we did. We must have raced accross a pasture 1/2 mile long. He got me about 2 links off the line and I was catching him the whole way. I finished about 1/2 a link behing. He was all, yeah I beat ur ***, and he shut up quickly when I made one statement infront of all of his buddies. I said, after finacing you paid $8,000 for yours, I paid $800 for mine and yours is the newest high tech peice of equipment made and mine is 19 years old and was made before the first racing quad ever was, this has gotta suck for you to know if I bolted a $250 dollar pipe on that I would spank your ***. He didn't even race anymore that night. I think he was afraid I would beat him if we raced again. I have a fast banshee but it is just more fun spanking quads on a trike. That was the only person to beat me and I raced a Z400, a couple of 400ex's, and even a banshee that was bone stock and I beat em all. Long live the R!!!!!

nice, I've got alot or work done to my r, 330, esr pipe, 38 a/s, v-force, elka shock, lsr axle, 18" tires, and some more stuff. It hauls as, I give qauds a good run for their money on the mx track and can beat the stock 400's and sometimes can hang with yfz's, 450r's. the full race bikes blow me away. I've never dragged my bike, also blew my top end today so its gonna be atleast a week before i ride the 250r again.

I have a buddy with a digital camera. I will get him to take some off my R and my shee. Give me a couple of days. Deathman. Is that shock worth the money. Mine needs a rebuild and I am thinking about just hooking it up with a new aftermarket unit. I will probably just get a works or somthing though. I don't jump 80ft. triples so one of them should do just fine.

Nice job shutting him down. I have an 85 R with a few mods and I've spanked them all. It's a wonderful thing. There's always that one guy out there who talks the most smack and they're the funnest to shut down. Only my friend's modded Banshee runs with me. I'm sure a simple mod here or there and you'll take him.

I don't think that I am going to moddify my R. I have a shee with a 404 big bore kit. CT porting for bottom and mid, Pro design cool head with 20cc domes, delta v-force II reeds, 30mm carbs, toomy 2 into 1 air filter, T5 pipes, Hinson basket, KG clutch's, lots of billet, inline water cooler's, high flow water pump impeller, douglas 10in wheels all the way around with bandit fronts and kenda rears, black powder coated frame, swingarm, and control arms, flip-flop paint, custom seat cover, and the list goes on. I have put countless dollars in it and when I get ready to sell it I might get $500 more than I paid for it. It's a great bike though and the way the motor is set up it is actually great for trails. But, when you beat some one with it you just don't feel the same as if you beat them on a stock trike. That's why I didn't even carry my shee to the festival. No one would have stood a chance there and no one would have wanted to race me either. I ride my R 10 times as much as my shee. I love that trike and I don't ever plan on parting with it. I think I am going to sell my shee on ebay and get a new 450r. I can just leave it stock and spank people with it too.

the elka shock was well worth the money, I got a 88 year shock(origonally gonna be for a 88r I was gonna build), I got a durablue adj. 87-89 to make the shock work right, it cost me about $800, I really got to jump high to bottom the shock. I'd get one for the specific year you have, If I did it might work a bit better for my bike(the 88r has a shorter linkage, 1" shorter swingarm, and the top shock mount on the 88 is narrower, hence I put washers to fill the space, but still bend the top bolt and replace it every 3 months). Its a bear to keep the front on the ground, recently I got a partial short track kit and I'm gonna put the tank on, that should make the bike a bit more potent in turns. heres a few pics

now the bike has roll design pegs, 18" tires, the 330 isn't in the pic, also forgot the bike also has a cr 250 ignition.
