Headlight mods for a 300ex
#1
I have a 1996 300ex. The previous owner removed the stock headlight, wiring, and starter/headlight switch. I have the stock headlight yet and will rewire it to work but was wondering what I can do for more light? I have heard some people say it is as simple as buying a higher wattage bulb from somewhere. I would like to keep this as cheap as possible becuase I don't ride night much, but would like some good lighting for when I need it. I would consider some sort of aftermarket lighting set-up if thats what will give me the best set-up for the $$$. Thanks!!!

I used to have a 300EX and wanted more headlight power too. I bought a pair of fog lights from wal-mart, made a bracket out of steel by dilling holes in it so the lights could bolt up to them. Then I drilled holes in the front metal bar underneath the front hood. Then I bolted it to that. The lights were cool because they just peaked out from under the hood and added a lot of light! I'm not sure if anyone will understand this, but I gave it a try. Ask about anything you don't understand.

Are you saying the light were under the front plastic ?? I would be a littel hesitant because of rocks. But may not be any more or less likely to get hit by rocks !! I am not sure.. Sounds cool though.. I would like my lights mounted to my bars, simply to be able to turn the lights with the bars !!

I bought some round fog lights from walmart and bolted them onto my front bumper. They work great and I made an adaptor for the wiring so I just unplug them and unbolt them when Im not night riding (takes about 5 minutes)
