hey im looking to get either the yfz450 or raptor 660. I cant choose. I will be doing more woods riding but will like to start racing soon. does anyone know which is a better quad? also if you know the tops speed of the yfz450 can you tell me it. im really leaning towards the yfz450. oh yea is the yfz450 and faster quad than the raptor. and is it definitely overall better.

if racing is gonna be the majority of your riding time and you don't mind spending the extra cash I'd go with the YFZ.
The Rappy does better in the woods and open dunes and etc...The only way one is better than the other is based on what type of riding and power you perfer. The rappy is faster on the top end and if you pipe/filter/jet it it will be faster than the YFZ all around. And as for one quad being overall better than the other, thats based again around what type of riding you perfer.

like the other guy said the raptor got more top yzf lower but for 600 buck pipe filter and jet kit and you beat it and you can race a raptor but its not as good as a yzf soo if your not racing for money just for fun and riding trials alot raptor if your gonna race alot the yzf and pipe it jett and filter

I had a rappy, I'm getting a YFZ now. I mostly ride woods, but I didn't like the way the Rappy was tall and narrow. I couldn't throw it around like I would have liked. Shouldn't be a problem on a low and wide YFZ

i prefer the raptors power and response to mods. if ur a lazy azz rider, then the yfz will be better for sharp manuvering, but i dont feel the raptor tippy all that much, u just gotta nogociate with it, and teach it whos boss. cant be lazy.

i got a yfz and in trails its not the good with no reverse and b/c of the size but for cornering and speed its awesome i like the raptors to the good thing is that they have reverse not to mentio they fast as hell modded

you will probably end up at the dunes since your in newberg, the 450 seems to be the new speed king at this point.( four strokes)

Also, if you do the same mods to both, like what you where saying........pipe/filter/jetkit, the yfz will still be faster.
Then theres that free mod, the cammod, that will blow a raptor with bolt ons right out of the water.
I'm not just saying this cause I own a yfz, I also own a 03 raptor, and the only thing different between my machines as that the yfz got put to yz450 timing (free mod). My yfz is a lot faster then the raptor, the raptor doesnt stand a chance anywhere. Oh, forgot, I also had to put a 15 tooth front sprocket on the yfz, do to its "getting out of hand" in 1st and 2nd.
I still love my raptor cause it can crawl up a lot of stuff that is meant for 4x4 quads. The yfz is just to fast pace to do that. Then I guess the only other thing I like about the raptor more (in some cases) is the soft suspension for long rides. But then again, I would take my yfz still because at highspeeds the raptor doesnt handle near like the yfz.
Just my .2 cents, from someone that owns both, rides both, and loves both.
In short, the yfz is a high performance machine, the raptor is a performance machine. THERE.

yeah, and on the same token, if you just remove the baffle from the exhaust on the yfz, it will be faster all the way around then the raptor.

I mostly agree, but having both machines myself I feel that the Raptor is still the best all around quad. True that mod for mod there is no touching the YFZ, but no matter how fast you get your quad there will always be someone faster. If you want something that is fast, but yet has a smooth ride for when you are out joyriding I'd go the Raptor all the way. If all you care about is being the fastest then get the YFZ. Remember that YFZ's are still fairly new so by piping and jetting a Raptor you'll be just as fast or faster than most 450's since the majority are still stock. I also noticed that my wrists always hurt after long rides on the 450, it just doesn't have as soft a suspension as the Raptor. Now this is just my 2 cents as well so don't take it as being biblical, but overall for all types of riding I go with the Raptor especially since it's cheaper.
