39pwk carb problems

Default 39pwk carb problems

okay a buddy gave me this 39pwk it has #6 slide ,r1368 g? needle in it what slide should be in there i was told the needle should be a eeg ? next thing it wont fit in the bike it hits the tranny ? do i have to get reed spacers to lift it up abit to get it to fit or is there some trick to getting it in?

update i made a reed spacer out of 3/8 lexan and it still hits the tranny is there a new boot that will lift the carb up abit where the reeds are?

Mine did the exct same thing ,i just took a grinder to the spot that the carb hit's.Which is right where a bolt goes thru the tranny housing.I don't know of any other intake boot.But i do know a couple of people that have done the same as me and just filed or grinded in that area.Hope this helps.I don't remember what my slide was but my needle was an EEG.

so you grind the tranny or carb? did you have reed spacers? if so how thick are they? i made a 3/8 one

The 01 trannies sit alot lower than on our bikes.Yes i tried with the reed spacer and without it.It hit either way.I just took the top bolt out of the tranny and ground away the tab that the bolt goes thru.

Are you guys running the stock choke cable? The piece that threads into the carb is a different size, how did you deal with that?

Yeah i was running the stock choke cable.

i does not hit wher the bolt goes through i hits the flat part on the tranny in front of the bolt

CED, did your cable thread into the new carb or did you have to take the cable end appart to make it fit ?
