Front End Noise - Big Bear 400
#1
I have a 2002 Big Bear 4x4 and the front end makes alot of noise when I put it into 4x4. I had it worked on 3 times and the dealers replaced the bearings and also said it did not sound right? The last time they had the factory out and now they say that this is normal? Although it did not sound like that until after the 2nd time out. Anyone have any info or know of a solution? Thanks!

I also have an 02 BB Mine makes the same noise. After about 1000 miles it's gotten really loud. I also took it in to a dealer and was told: 1. We can't hear any noise(Dealer) 2. It's supposed to sound like that(Second Dealer). Which was a load. I've done some research into it and it seems that the "Gear Lash" was not set right from the factory, basically the gears arn't meshing right. I think the entire front diff will need to be replaced. I'm going to try to take my BB in this saturday 11/13/04 to a third dealer and see if they will replace the entire diff. Wish me luck.

Well I have some good news, I took my unit to another shop in Sacramento, CA and the shop manager rode it for 1 minute and said something was wrong! He got me a brand new front end as he said he did not want to try to fix someone elses work. My noise is gone for now but I have only rode it up and down the street. Well good luck as Yamaha themselves were no help. I'm buying a Honda for my son this Xmas!
